Puppy Application

 

Thank you for your interest in joining the Eisa Saluki family!

If you would like to provide a loving home to one of my Salukis, please begin the process by filling out the questionnaire below. Please give me 24-48 hours to respond to your questionairre! If it is decided you are an appropriate home for one of our Salukis and I do not have litters available, you will be added to a wait list. If the form is over 1 year old at the time a litter is born, you will need to fill it out again with current information.

Before filling out this questionnaire, please read:

I require that your Saluki have access to a fenced yard that is attached to your home and preferably 6ft in height (but no less than 5ft). Salukis can jump upwards of 6 feet from standing still. They also require frequent exercise in an area where they can safely run freely to develop adequate muscle, burn off energy and do what they love to do most…RUN! I do not allow dog parks per my contract, so a fenced yard is required for a Saluki from me. Salukis, as well as many other dogs, do not always care to socialize with dogs outside of their “inner circle”. Dog parks are dangerous and are filled with people uneducated in dog behavior.

I do not consider myself to have Salukis with the appropriate temperament for obedience, performance and therapy dog/service dog work. This does not mean that they cannot accomplish these things, but I will not sell with this as the end goal to mitigate unmet expectations.

Pets are sold on limited registration with a no breeding contract. I do not condone backyard breeding or breeding for profit. All breeding needs to be done conscientiously with the breed's future in mind. All pets will be co-owned until spayed or neutered.

All show/breeding prospect puppies go on co-ownerships and release of that co-ownership is case by case.

I do not ship puppies. There is too much risk in doing so.

Puppies never go home before 8 weeks; most litters go home around 10-12 weeks old.

Puppy cost varies, but it is generally between $2500 and $3000. This is due to the cost of veterinary care and appropriate testing/showing that is needed to breed a litter ethically.

Buyers do not get to pick their puppies; puppies are placed according to temperament and potential. Color preference is my least concern and is not something I can fully predict. However, through genetic testing it is possible to determine what colors are possible in the litter with that particular sire and dam. A Saluki’s quality is not based solely on its color.

I require that my new puppy owners attend a puppy class with their new Saluki. Early socialization in this breed is very important. The point is not for them to earn a performance title or learn how to do anything except be in a social environment and deal with the stressors that come along with it.

I require that puppy owners keep insurance on their Saluki puppy for 6 months from the purchase date since they are more susceptible to injury and disease during this time. After the 6-month period, you can chose to discontinue the insurance if you would like. 

I require a home visit completed by either myself or someone I trust who is invovled in the breed. This will be done with a mutually agreed upon time between you and the visitor.

Before purchase, you will be able to review the contract you are expected to sign and we can go over it together to answer any questions you might have. 

This process can seem long and tedious, but I want each puppy to be matched appropriately to the right home, so come with an open mind and patience for a smoother process.
